Take More Pictures

I love General Conference.  And while, yes, it's hard to listen to talks while Katie is running around, all hyped up on sugar (or maybe just on being a two year old), I do get to listen to parts and some things really stick out and stay with me.

My favorite piece of advice from Sunday morning's session goes like this: "These things are important... Take pictures twice a year."  I found myself sitting up a little straighter and Tyson looked over at me with a grin on his face because he knew that I would be loving what was just said.

And do I EVER love that Sister Wixom said that!  Not just because of the other "job" that I'm trying to have... but pictures are important.  Memories fade all too quickly, but a picture can put you right back in that moment. 

Your daughter's first time meeting Mickey Mouse. 

Your first school dance.
Christmas when you were five years old.
The first precious hours of your newborn's life. 

Family vacations.
Remember that horrible hair cut you had when you were nine?
The fact that you looked like a whale when you were 8 months pregnant and trying to sleep was next to impossible. 

That one time you ran out to the airport with your mom so that you could have your picture taken with Olivia Newton-John? (I have to go home and find this picture to share!)
Your wedding day. 

Fun times with family. 
Not so fun times with family...
Fun times with friends. 

Remember that doll that you had to carry around with you EVERYWHERE?
That one time when Dad tried to have a Spanish accent and it came out as Transylvanian...

Pictures are important.  Even if they aren't the scheduled family portraits.  Just take more pictures of the people and places and things that are important in your life.  One day they (and you) will be gone and you'll be glad to have the pictures to share with others.
