But the reason that they have this new puppy is because a few days after Christmas, their dog Boomer died. It was quite shocking because he was only four years old. He died in the middle of the night with Tyson's little brother sleeping with him (because he was having some trouble breathing). He was a beautiful dog with a LOT of personality.
I don't know if I could get a new dog so soon after losing another. It was hard for me to even look at other dogs for a few months after we put our family dog, Moe, down. I had grown up with Moe as my dog for 15 years and I'll tell you... it was one of the hardest things that I've ever had to do, when I was with him as he was put down. I still get all teary when I talk about it. And it was almost 2 years ago.I don't really know what the point of this post is. I know that everyone has different points-of-view when it comes to family pets and some people just don't understand how a pet can become like a part of the family. Well, I understand it. And it's hard when you lose them.

Whit, I totally understand. It is horrible. In someways its like a part of you dies with them. I have to tell you though I was going through some old pictures and found one of Moe man running. He was a good dog.
Whit,
I can definitely relate. I grew up with my dog Nikki. She died 2 years ago as well. We tried to put her down a few times, but when it came right down to it, she would perk up, act all happy, and we couldn't do it. She lasted 5 more years after the day we tried to put her down last.
I know the loss and I'm sorry. We haven't gotten a new dog since. We love our pup!
I've never gone through losing a long term pet. I've had a cat for about 13 years and she is still fine as ever, but I know I'll be sad when she dies.
Stu on the other hand lost one of his dogs and he said it was TORTUROUS watching him be put down.
Anyway, sorry for your losses. Death in all packages, SUCKS. LIFE is pretty cool though. Congrats (to your inlaws) on the new pup.
